Construction FAQ

What is your schedule backlog on installations?
Once we have received a signed contract and deposit, the average wait on a “typical” installation (of at least three or four days’ duration) is two to six weeks.

What if it’s just a small project?
Because we schedule projects on a “first come, first served” basis, smaller projects (fewer than three days, and projects which don’t require design) follow the same scheduling pattern as a typical job. Sometimes small projects can be completed quickly when unforeseen delays occur on larger projects, or when projects are completed ahead of schedule.

How long does the design phase normally take?
It varies depending on the scope and detail of the project. A project that requires only a quick sketch can be designed in a matter of days. Most projects require two to eight weeks to design and estimate.

Can you do hardscape projects in the winter?
Absolutely.

What is the lowest temperature that hardscape work can be done? Can you begin hardscape projects in February or March?
Yes, we can plant & sod till the end of Nov. From them on we schedule & plan hardscape at this time. We prep walls- dig out footings, install foundations before frost becomes a factor & return later for the install. Flat work- patios & walkways we can prep as well-excavate, install base, them cover with frost blankets until we return for install. These steps work well for new construction of homes over the winter. We can have these areas prepared while construction continues It also gives us a jump on spring projects-getting the hardscape out of the way we can go right into the plantings in spring.

How large of a budget should I set for a new landscape project?
The rule of thumb is generally 1/10 of the home’s value.
