Architectural Design

At LandDesign, Inc. we listen to your landscaping goals, needs and desires, and work within your budget. After in-depth consultation to find out your unique lifestyle requirements for your landscape, we begin to create a customized plan to give you the landscape of your dreams.

Our 5-step Architectural Design process develops a Master Plan for your landscape. If your project doesn’t require a Master Plan, you may need a Computerized Landscape Design or may only need Steps 3 & 4 to develop a Concept Drawing. That may be enough, but if not you can chose to progress to Steps 5 & 6.

Design Service Phases:

  1. Initial Consultation at client’s property.
  2. Landscape Architect & Designer Introduction with client and walk-around site to identify client’s needs and note queries. Usually 4 hours, with or without homeowner for ideas & on-site design. Usually included in contract cost if proposal is signed
  3. Landscape Architect Concept Design/ Talking Design- paper drawings to identify major schematic elements and stylistic preferences. Review examples with client. LandDesign provides a Concept Drawing without grades or planting details
  4. Preliminary Plan -suitable for pricing & construction by a highly competent landscape contractor.
  5. Master Site Plan- total site plan with grades & 3-4 sets of dimensions, quantities, and install instructions for hardscape & plantings (site plan survey needed, not included in cost). Contact documents suitable for contract bidding. Contact relevant agencies; acquire survey map, boundary markers, and building plans. Conduct basic site analysis and measurements. 

For smaller or ‘do-it-yourself’ projects that don’t need an Architectural Design,LandDesign will mutually define the landscape element to be included in your project and the estimated budget range for your project. We will present a written proposal for your review and final approval.

We also make consultations for small projects and do-it-yourself projects that require some professional services. For an on-site walk-a-round consultation, we will educate you on how to plan your project, and how to do it right the first time. We will instruct you on what products to use & where to buy them. This will save you a lot of money, time and effort.
